Vestry - Class of 2026
Wendy Root Cate - Liaison for the Thrift Shop
I was born in Boston, Massachusetts and baptized at Islington Community Church. I lived with grandparents for a while, and the earliest memory I have of Sunday School was marching into class singing “Onward, Christian Soldiers” at First United Methodist Church in Des Moines, Iowa. Back in Massachusetts with my parents, we moved from Islington to Carlisle when I was in seventh grade. Carlisle Congregational Church gave me the King James Bible that I still read at home. With more family moves, I went to high school in Michigan and Wisconsin. I moved out West to attend Reed College in Portland, Oregon, and then to San Francisco for graduate school at San Francisco State University.
I worked for Los Angeles Unified School District until 2008. My family and I lived in La Crescenta and worshipped at La Crescenta Presbyterian Church. I am now a retired teacher and new attorney. I have five children, four grandchildren, two granddogs, and five grandcats, one of whom resides with me.
I have worshipped at St. Peter’s since 2010, usually at the 9:30am service. I have participated in Daughters of the King, Sunday Forums, Centering Prayer,Bible Study, brought food for Helping Hands, attended Senior Luncheons and Seniors On The Go excursions, assisted at Godly Play, and enjoyed Wednesday Advent and Lent Soup Suppers.
I am very grateful to St. Peter’s for all the worship, great music, study, and fellowship they have provided.
