Welcome to Ministry

Q. Who are the ministers of the Church?

A. The ministers of the Church are lay persons, bishops, priests, and deacons. (Book of Common Prayer, Catechism, p. 855)

St. Peter’s is a very lively and growing parish, where opportunities for ministry abound. We believe that all persons who are called to be Christians are also called to use their gifts and abilities, their skills and training, their time and talent to minister in our Lord’s Name and to help spread the Good News of the Kingdom of God.

The purpose of this page is to describe the ministries we provide or are planning in the near future, and to invite you to pledge your time and talent to those ministries to which you feel called.

Under each area of ministry you will find a brief description of the Leadership Team that oversees that ministry as well as descriptions of the various aspects of ministry in each area, and contact information so that you can become involved. In addition to the leaders, each area of ministry has a Vestry liaison and a staff representative who serves with the leadership team and assists them with their vision regarding that broad area of ministry. We always need more disciples to serve on each Leadership Team and in each ministry. We invite you to consider taking one of these roles.

We hope this information will be a useful tool to help you to discover your gifts for ministry and pray about how your gifts might best be used to serve the Lord through the ministries of St. Peter’s.

Q. What is the ministry of the laity?

A. The ministry of lay persons is to represent Christ and his Church; to bear witness to him wherever they may be and, according to the gifts given them, to carry on Christ’s work of reconciliation in the world; and to take their place in the life, worship, and governance of the Church. (BCP, p. 855)

We look forward to serving God with you!
