Baptisms
We believe the Sacrament of Holy Baptism, both instituted and commanded by Jesus Christ, is the means by which one enters into the fellowship of the Body of Christ. Furthermore, we also believe that God, in his grace, fills the one being baptized with the fullness of his Holy Spirit at his/her baptism, whether it is an infant, child or adult.
Baptisms at St. Peter’s are especially joyful celebrations for the whole community of faith. As such, we do not perform “private baptisms” except in cases of emergency.
Baptisms are celebrated once every month, except during Lent, and on the four primary Holy Days specifically designated for Baptisms: The Great Vigil on the Eve of Easter, The Feast of Pentecost (fifty days after Easter) or Trinity Sunday, All Saints Day (Sunday closest to Nov. 1st), and The Feast of the Baptism of our Lord (the first Sunday after the Epiphany). All baptisms require baptismal a preparation class which is done with the clergy.
