5. Isaiah 25 (first lesson) and Psalm 23 are part of Tract 2 of alternate readings.  Track 2 is a thematic reading of the Hebrew Scripture.

6. Philippians 4 (second lesson) and Matthew 22 (the Gospel) are read whether we are using Track 1 or Track 2.

What is the Difference with the RCL? (from the July 2010 Spirit and Times)

Ordinary time… not very riveting at first glance, this Season after Pentecost. But while not punctuated by major feasts of the church year, this season is rich in depth. Because in 2006 the Episcopal Church’s joined Christians around the world who follow the Revised Common Lectionary (RCL), we have the chance to embrace the scriptures with some renewed intentionality, hearing sequential readings of the Old Testament, the New Testament Epistles, and the Gospels, this year allowing us to get a fuller sense of the messages of the author of Kings, of the prophets Jeremiah, Amos and Hosea, and the letters of Paul and others to the early church, and to finish our reading of the Gospel according to Luke before we turn to Matthew in the next church year. Instead of the sacred sound bites we were accustomed to with the 1979 BCP lectionary at this time of the year, we’ll have the opportunity for a fuller and deeper, even more sweeping, engagement with the Word as we continue to grow in our life of faith.
