Prayer & Pastoral Care Ministries

We invite all of you to participate!

Centering Prayer:

It is a silent form of prayer which expresses our desire to have God speak to us. Lectio Divina is a meditative reading of scripture. Both come from a monastic tradition and offer practices which are a valuable part of the Christian spiritual life. Tuesdays 4:30pm to 6:00pm, held in the Cozy Corner of the Parish Hall (contact John Wavrik, 858.755.8437 or jwavrik@ucsd.edu) or  Thursdays at 3 p.m. in the Library (contact Sun Spriggs at sunspriggs(at)yahoo(dot)com.)

Daughters of the King:

DOK is a lay order for women of the Episcopal Church. Members undertake a Rule of Life, incorporating the DOK Rule of Prayer and Rule of Service. A daughter pledges herself to a long program of prayer, service and evangelism, dedicated to the spread of Christ Kingdom and the strengthening of the spiritual life of her parish. Meets the 3rd Sunday every month in the Library. Mary Wavrik 858.755.8437 or mwavrick@sbcglobal.net

Listening Hearts Ministries:

Listening Hearts is a lay spiritual discernment ministry. When individuals of faith in a church community question what God wants them to do, whether the question or situation is big or small, through trained discerners, working in a quiet, focused way, the ministry helps individuals to distinguish God’s call from the other competing calls in their lives. Frank and Eva Kear, 858.481.3832 or SBFEK@roadrunner.com

Pastoral Care:

Prayers or visits provided for those who are hospitalized or are shut-in. Contact Father Tom Bond 858.755.1616 or tdaj007@earthlink.net

Prayer Chain:

Volunteers who provide on-going prayer for any email requests. This is done confidentially and without direct contact. Contact Jan Heinzmann 858.755.4323 or jcheinzmann@sbcglobal.net

Prayer Teams and Healing Ministry:

Got a special prayer request? Bring it to our wonderful prayer team ministers after the service. They will be happy to pray with you. All you need to do is stand (or sit) with them for a moment or two. Tell them your request: good health, successful job search, whatever. They will not question you or make you feel in any way uncomfortable.

If you are interested in being trained to join a prayer team, contact Fr. Tom Bond. Remember: Jesus said: When two or three are gathered together in my name, I shall be there with them. Please contact Marsha Harmon for more information summer9744@yahoo.com
