Hospitality

Our Hospitality Ministry Team's purpose is to provide a welcoming environment so that all people, especially visitors and newcomers, feel welcome in our parish family. Our primary focus is caring for our guests and newcomers, and ensuring that all our people and programs are approachable and accessible. Our ministry helps newcomers have positive first experiences at St. Peter's then assists them in integrating into the life and work of the parish. We strive to demonstrate a Christ like presence for visitors, newcomers and members alike. If you have had a good experience being welcomed to St. Peter's and would like to share that with others, or if you just have a welcoming heart, please consider joining our ministry team.

Welcoming Ministry

Greeters - Greeters provide a warm welcome for all Sunday morning worshippers, especially newcomers and guests. They invite people to sign the register, assist them with worship as needed, and share coffee and fellowship together. They also give tours of the campus, answer questions and introduce them to others.

Coffee Hour Hosts - The coffee and doughnuts which greet people after each Sunday service are prepared by a quiet but dedicated group of people who come early, stay late and provide much-appreciated refreshments to all. They usually work one service a month and we are always looking for people who wish to join this ministry which provides a guaranteed first choice of doughnuts.

Integration Ministries

Newcomer Information - We provide Newcomer Packets containing information on the Episcopal Church in general and St. Peter's in particular. These include St. Peter's Overview Brochure, brochures describing the Episcopal Church and its traditions, the sacraments, the Book of Common Prayer, etc. The Hospitality Ministry also develops other informational materials as deemed useful and necessary.

Newcomer Orientation - This ministry develops and implements integration and orientation programs including newcomers' meetings with the Rector, orientation classes such as "What is an Episcopalian?" and provides other educational opportunities as needed.

Newcomer Fellowship - Welcoming luncheon parties for all newcomers provide a chance to meet and get to know Clergy, Staff and Vestry. They are held twice a year in the Parish Hall.

Kitchen Ministry

The kitchen ministry oversees management of St. Peter's kitchen, trains parishioners in proper kitchen procedures, and ensures compliance with all San Diego Department of Health regulations.
