As Wardens for St. Peter’s Del Mar, we are excited to report that our Calling Committee is hard at work, guided by the Diocesan Deployment Officer, in the discernment process finding our next Rector. Our committee of thirteen parishioners is developing a Parish Profile and the Profile for our new Rector.   We are targeting May 31, 2008 to have these two documents completed, and the Parish Profile will be published on this website.

The Position Profile for the new Rector will be circulated nationally within the community of the Episcopal Church.  Once the application process begins in the summer/early fall, the committee will narrow the field of candidates for an in-depth interview and visitation process.  The Calling Committee will bring two or three final candidates here to the Parish for local interviews with our Vestry and others in the parish.  Upon recommendation of the committee, the vestry will vote on our new Rector.  The approximate timeline for the completion of the Calling process is December 2008.  If we are lucky, St. Peter’s will have its new Rector in early 2009.

We are most confident the Calling Committee, under the guidance of Canon Jenny Vervynk, is doing a thorough job and working hard to find the best fit for our church.  Where we go in the future is dependent on the next months and our prayers and support are with these special diligent parishioners.
