Weddings at St. Peter's
Marriage ceremonies at St. Peter's are generally for members of St. Peter's and their families, couples living in the area who are planning to join the St. Peter's family, or couples who are members of an Episcopal Church in another diocese. We will consider providing marital services for couples who are not Episcopalians but are active members of another Christian community. In any case, for all marriages, at least one of the parties must be a baptized Christian. In the case of remarriage, at least one party must be an Episcopalian.
All weddings at St. Peter's are under the direction of the Rector or staff clergy, are coordinated by our Wedding Guild and any decisions about the wedding must be made in consultation with them. Except under extraordinary circumstances, no weddings will be performed from Ash Wednesday through Easter.
No wedding can be scheduled less than 90 days prior to the planned date for the ceremony. If either party has been previously married, an additional 30 days will be required. It is recommended that you schedule your wedding between six months and one year in advance.
For further information we suggest that you stop at the parish office at 334 14th street, Del Mar and ask the secretary for a copy of Wedding Guidelines, 2007. It contains further details regarding scheduling, availability of clergy, pre-marital counseling, remarriage requirements and fees. The parish hall is available for receptions.
The St. Peter's Wedding Guild
The St. Peter's Wedding Guild assists couples who are planning to be married at St. Peter's, acts as the church's representative at rehearsals and weddings, and assists the clergy at these functions. This is a joyful ministry. If you would like to join us please contact Kathryn Ringrose, Chairman, 858-481-9276 or kringrose@ucsd.edu.
