Planned Giving and the Jarrett Legacy Society
Planned Giving is a way to offer your generosity towards St. Peter's as you make plans for how your worldly resources will be shared after your death, remembering, as a wise person once said, "You can't take it with you!"
There are various ways you can plan for a legacy gift to St. Peter’s that will benefit the church as well as the plans you are making for your estate. Through planned giving, you can assure that a gift from your heart can also provide tax or income benefits to you and your family. A bequest is a prayerful gift that can provide a charitable deduction for your estate and can easily be accomplished in several ways:
• By having language added in your will or living trust that directs a percentage of assets, a certain amount or the residual value of your estate to St. Peter’s;
• By naming St. Peter’s as a beneficiary or contingent beneficiary in a life insurance policy or annuity;
• By naming St. Peter’s as a beneficiary or contingent beneficiary of your IRA or other retirement plan assets.
Charitable trusts, gift annuities and other gift arrangements created to benefit St. Peter’s can also provide income for you, now or later, and current and estate tax benefits for you and your heirs.
We appreciate your consideration as you remember St. Peter’s in your planning. Please contact the church office for additional information. You may wish to consult with your professional advisors on how you can benefit.
Legacy Society LogoSt. Peter’s is pleased to announce the launching of the renewed Lillian and Tally Jarrett Legacy Society and we invite you to participate as a Charter Member.
The legacy society was created to honor those who are remembering the church by leaving a bequest or making a planned gift in their financial or estate planning arrangements directly to the church or to the Endowment Fund. Donors making current gifts to the Endowment Fund are also included.
If you have already named St. Peter’s in your planning, we would like to hear from you so we can welcome you as a Charter member.
Members of The Jarrett Society will be recognized in legacy society and parish materials. There will be an annual spring reception to honor established members and welcome new members. Upon joining the legacy society, you will also be included as a member in the recently-created Bishop’s Society of the Episcopal Diocese of San Diego. You will receive a letter of appreciation from the Bishop, be listed on the diocesan roll and invited to an annual event hosted by the Bishop for legacy society members in late spring.
The Endowment Commission will provide opportunities to learn more about how you can join in growing the Endowment Fund for St. Peter’s and ensuring parish ministries long into the future. For more information or to discuss the various ways you can prayerfully include the church in your planning, please contact a member of St. Peter’s clergy, or a member of the Endowment Commission through the church office.
